For too long, a small group in our nation's capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost. Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth.

Theestablishment protected itself but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories. Their triumphs have not been your triumphs. And while they celebrated in our nation’s capital, there was little to celebrate for struggling families all across our land.

这样的建制保护的是其自身利益，而不是我们国家的公民。他们的成功和与你们无关。他们的胜利也不属于你们。当他们在我们国家的首都欢愉庆祝时，我们国土上许多挣扎着的家庭却没什么可以庆祝的。

What truly matters is not which party controls our government but whether our government is controlled by the people.

Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families and good jobs for themselves.

美国人民想要他们的孩子获得优质的学校教育，想他们的家人拥有安全的生活环境，想他们自己都有好的工作。
